Reality Television in The Hunger Games

Description

Give students a reality check about reality television while reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. These activities and questions have students analyzing and questioning the reality of their reality television shows.

Inspired by Katniss’ quote, “whoever puts together the highlights has to choose what sort of story to tell,” this activity will have students seeking commonalities between reality tv in their lives and in the novel.

Students will take notes concerning Katniss, Haymitch, and the Capitol’s interference in the production and editing of the 74th Hunger Games and analyze the effect.
