Goals for teaching short stories:

When I teach short stories, I work to accomplish several goals.

√ To provide student choice.

√ To practice writing.

√ To connect grammar to literature with mentor sentences. Not only do I want to reach literature standards, but I also want to reach language standards.

√ To study vocabulary in context.

√ To provide a variety of ways for students to demonstrate their understanding. To that end, I have created multiple choice quizzes (perfect exit tickets!), reading questions, task cards, and other activities for these stories.

If you are looking for short story activities that provide a variety of learning opportunities and help you reach standards in new ways, this bundle will help you. Since I never teach the same order of short stories with the same activities twice, you benefit! You will be able to mix and match short stories with different activities for years to come.
