My kids have started changing out of school clothes and into shorts and t-shirts to play in the backyard. Warmer weather is here and for me at least, that means my food changes. (Am I alone?) I grill more, I make fewer roasts. I eat more salad, I consumer less noodles. Importantly, my coffee consumption changes – more iced and fun drinks. When the weather cooled off again this past week, I wanted to cherish another ‘winter drink’ and I made hot chocolate in March.
This isn’t a “coffee drink” exactly, but it contains coffee. I adapted the recipe from well Plated. I followed the recipe exactly, except for when it calls for “the best quality chocolate” I substituted “store brand chocolate.” It was still lovely. (Go check out her pictures. You’ll be persuaded to make it as well).
I whipped up my own whipped cream (sorry! terrible pun!) and dollopped it plentifully.
I make whipped cream because people think I’m fancy, but it’s actually easy. I used 1 cup of whipping cream and two heaping tablespoons of powdered sugar. Beat until your arm hurts and the whipped cream is the desired consistency.
Add to your hot chocolate in March, and enjoy.
